  • Acupuncture

  • Acupuncture is one of the cornerstones of Oriental Medicine. This procedure involves the stimulation of points on or near the surface of the skin to alleviate pain, and regulate physiologic function of the body. This stimulation can be achieved through the insertion of very thin, sterile, disposable needles.

Acupuncture mainly works in three ways:

    1. Since the needle is a foreign object, the body notices and reacts to its presence, and responds with a stimulation of the immune system.
    2. As a result of the stimulation, circulation and energy flow is enhanced in the treated areas, and the body can more readily focus on its job of healing and repair.
    3. We are still learning about the myriad ways acupuncture works and can benefit our health. We have observed for thousands of years that when you stimulate certain acupuncture points, you can safely communicate in a profound way with other parts of the body, mind, and spirit. This communication affects cells, organs, tissues, and energetic systems in ways that have been found to be highly beneficial, yet still somewhat of a mystery.
